Never Disconnected

The weekend before last, we all loaded up into our car and drove down to Scerni, Italy.

The six hour drive took us back to a place where we lived for 4-years and it had been about a year since we had been back.

It was a great trip.

Me and the Mrs. enjoyed it.

The kids enjoyed it.

And their grandparents enjoyed it.

Here are some of the photos I snagged and shared on my Instagram:

It’s a small place.

About 3,500 people.

It is also the most peaceful and quiet place I have ever lived.

Visiting Scerni was such a delight to visit after living in a much busier area in Northern Italy.

During our weekend visit, one thing stood out to me.

We never disconnect.

I didn’t have my usual Internet connection, so I wasn’t “plugged-in” like I usually am.

But I wasn’t disconnected.

I was connected with my kids. My wife. My in-laws. Those I visited around town.

Being “connected” is a beautiful thing.

It isn’t always online. It isn’t always over the phone.

It’s also face-to-face.

Our lives don’t boil down to being “connected” or “disconnected” through our devices of technology, but choices we make every day on how and who we decide to connect with.

Our human bandwidth is limited, so choose wisely.

Yep, the grandparents enjoyed every minute! And are hoping it will happen more often. 🙂
